So. I ran a marathon. We’ll just get that out of the way right there.
I’ll recap the race for you soon enough, but for now, I thought it would be fun to recap my weekend WHILE TYPING ON AN AIRPLANE.
Sorry, I don’t mean to yell, but in-flight WiFi is seriously one of the best things ever.
Also known as the travel day that wasn’t. I left work at noon and was picked up by a friend for what we planned to be a super quick lunch since I needed to leave my house around 1:15. Well, the second I walked into my house, I had a text from United saying my flight was delayed from 3:45 to 6:30. Considering my layover in Denver was about 2 hours and my flight was delayed by nearly 3, I had a problem.
I got on the phone with United right away and there weren’t any other flights leaving from Denver to Minneapolis on Thursday night, and I also wasn’t keen on spending the night in the Denver airport, so I rebooked myself on a flight leaving at 6:25 Friday morning. This meant a 3:45 wake up call. Oof.
I was totally bummed to miss out on some visiting time, but I was super impressed with out quickly my flight was fixed – and I didn’t even wait on hold (I did; however, want to stab the IVR I had to go though, I hate those things!)
Two things. One: I actually managed to sleep. Two: I only kind of accidentally hit snooze in my sleep for 15 minutes 🙂
Merlin wasn’t impressed with the early wake up, but he wasn’t about to refuse an early breakfast. I gathered my bags and was out the door 20 minutes after waking.
Finally, after 14 hours of delays, I was in MN!!
It was time for me to get presentable (leaving at 4am means no make up and comfy clothes) and then we were off to a brewery for a tour and then a baseball game!
I know nothing about baseball, but I love going to sporting events, so I was all over it! We ended up wandering around because of a rain delay for an hour, and the. Picked up rain ponchos to keep us dry as it rained the entire game. Boo.
We kept Saturday simple knowing we had a marathon to run on Sunday.
Shake out run.
My friends are so nice to let this Canadian run wild through the stores.
We relaxed and tried not to freak out too much about what was on our plate for Sunday.
And that brings us to today.
I originally booked my fight to leave around 1:30, but after booking I received a notification that while my flight number was huge same, the flight times had been changed and it was moved up to 10:20. Obviously, I was not impressed with this development and it significantly reduced the amount of visiting time with Ann and Heather 🙁
Thankfully we’ll be seeing one another in October when Ann and I run RnR STL and Heather spectates 🙂
I’m also flying the extremely direct route from MSP to Dallas to Calgary (I’ll never understand how that makes sense).
Then it’ll be time for Merlin cuddles and face planting myself in bed.
I’ll recap my marathon experience later this week.
