Welcome to the first link love of February 2016. I hope you all enjoyed reading some good finds last week, and I wanted to continue to share what I think is awesome this week.
21.1 Things I Learned While Training for My First Half Marathon <– Ashley is a friend and I just loved reading everything because it’s all so true! Especially that second pair of shoes thing 🙂
The neurology of behaviour change: How personal trainers can use brain science to help clients achieve their health and fitness goals <– okay, so the title miiiight sound daunting, but I love thing in this post! My brain most certainly does act like a 2-year old child! I think the findings helps to tie in with how different people respond to different forms of motivation.
Can IIFYM Work For Runners? <– I may be in the minority here, but I see as counting macros to be very similar to counting calories. 1g of protein or carbs = 4 calories, and 1g of fat = 9 calories. It’s just a different method of counting. However I do agree that we too often don’t eat enough protein (or, eat too much at once which means it can’t be used effectively) so by following a macro approach (and 20g-30g at once) runners (and females) can make sure we’re eating enough of the right stuff!
An Open Letter to the Professional Athletes of Track and Field <– every few years, come Olympic time, I used to have a fun rant about how little Canada funds professional athletes. The United States funds far more, but it’s certainly not being done the right way, and it’s to the detriment of all athletes.

How To Be a Better Runner <– I know I’m definitely going to need to keep myself consistent as I return to running. Since I’ve had so much time off, it’ll be rough, but I know staying healthy and consistent will result in a bit payoff!
The Science Behind Resting Bitch Face <– no I’m not upset, my face just looks this way, okay?!
Happy Saturday, friends!
