Yippee! It’s Saturday!
I was going to say something about it already being half way through March, but since we can all read a calendar I won’t so let’s just forget that sentence didn’t happen, okay? 🙂
I’m a bit behind on my reading because I’ve been far more interested in enjoying the amazing weather (we’re supposed to get a rain/snow mix tomorrow) and watching Netflix. #sorrynotsorry
And?! Of course I signed up for a race on the day we’re supposed to have a rain/snow mix. Major bummer, but I’m going to put on my big-girl pants and run anyways – I am training for a marathon :/
But that doesn’t mean I don’t have anything to share – but next week might be bigger 🙂
Because the internet is awesome
What spoke to me this week
Why I’m Running the NYC Marathon for Charity <– my friend Kaella has not had the best 8 months and I had my fingers crossed for her when the NYC marathon drawing was happening. Unforunately, she didn’t get it, but she did make the brave decision to run for charity! Will you consider making a donation so she can run her first marathon in her favourite city?
The Dark Side of Wearable Fitness Trackers <– I haven’t charged my FitBit since November and I’m not sure if I care to. #fail
Rant: Looking Good Does Not Make You a Fitness Expert<– I loved this post. I’m sure I could give y’all advice on how to eat and run and such, but, as of right now, I’m not qualified. Once I’ve progress with my marathon coaching certification, I’ll feel much better about making suggestions and giving out advice.
25 Helpful Running Articles You Need to Read <– if an elite tells me an article is helpful, you better believe I’m going to read it! The two I read immediately are The Ultimate Guide to Shin Splints for Runners (although my issue is my stupid tendonitis again) and The 4 Mistakes You’re Making When Foam Rolling (and How to Fix Them) (hurts so good!).
One Twin Exercises, The Other Doesn’t <– a super interesting study on the effects of exercise on the human body.
Why Athletes Shouldn’t Aspire to be Shredded <– keep some of those carbs for performance, friends!
Nutrients for Active People – Water and Electolytes <– how much do you need and are you getting enough?
What Runners Need to Know About Depression <– I’ve had more than a few moments this week where I’ve mentioned to my friends that I’ve made rational conclusions. This was absolutely not happening just a few weeks ago. It’s confirmation to me that CBT and exercise alone just doesn’t cut it for my poor brain.
March Happy Mail Unboxing <– I’ve been receiving Happy Mail since December and just signed up for Messy Box and I am pumped! I’m not super creative or crafty, but I couldn’t resist the amazingness of this!
What are you loving this week?
