I’m happy to say that unlike last week, we were not blessed with snow overnight.
Thank.Freaking.Goodness. I’m not sure my brain can handle anymore snow, like, ever.
While I normally enjoy 10 hours of sleep on weekends, I work up early-ish to do some marking off assignments as I’ll be driving down to visit my mom for an early Mother’s Day – and because I haven’t seen her since Christmas! I’ll be back sometime after dinner so I can get my 30k run in since the weather and poor planning (on my part) interfered last weekend….but, hey, I had to see SpiderMan!!
Today also marks the start of birthday week for my sister – tomorrow starts birthday week for me. I have some fun planned during the week with some pictures and stories about it. My dad sent me some pictures earlier this week and I’m so excited to share them!!
I also have a moment of panic on Friday when my blog updated and I couldn’t access my dashboard. It turns out it something to do with my work system (blogging at work? Whoops!) and all is good. Thankfully 🙂
Popular This Week
This week was a good week. How do I know it was a good week? Because I loved nearly everything I read! I was happy and laughing and dancing in my chair. Yay for a good week!
WIAW: A Regular Day <– don’t forget to enter my giveaway! (And don’t forget it’s for Canada only!)
The Myth of Passion and Motivation: How to Stay Focused When You Get Bored Working Toward Your Goals <– I think this is something we’ve all experienced at some time. I know I’ve been blah about running all.the.time. and sometimes you really just have to suck it up and do it (see my runs in the snow last weekend).
You Are What You Eat…..Or What You Believe You Eat via Fit Bottomed Eats <– this was crazy interesting to me. To summarize, if you think you’re eating a lot of calories, you’ll feel fuller for longer, regardless of what you actually eat. The study was quite small, and needs more analysis, but still, super interesting!
33 Amazingly Useful Websites You Never Knew Existed via Buzzfeed <– bookmark this. Seriously.
20 Questions That Will Free Your Mind from Negativity via Marc and Angel Hack Life <– this article came to me at the perfect time this week, I’ve been struggling with a few things (not running related) and it’s turned me into a grumpy negative-Nancy (no offense to any Nancy’s out there!). I don’t like wearing my grumpy pants, so I’m glad I was able to read this and think about it some.
What are you holding on to that you need to let go of? – Oftentimes holding on actually makes us weaker, and letting go builds our strength. Does that thing you were extremely upset about six months ago, or last year, really matter now? I bet it doesn’t. And if you’re still thinking about it, it’s not serving your best interests. (Read The Untethered Soul.)
I’ll be looking up this book ASAP!!
Who, or what, needs your forgiveness? – Forgiveness doesn’t always lead to healed relationships and situations. Some relationships and situations aren’t meant to be. Forgive anyway, and let what’s meant to be, BE. Go ahead and set yourself free. When you hold resentment toward another, you are bound to that person or condition by an emotional link that is stronger than steel. Forgiveness is the only way to dissolve that link and break free.
See?! Marc and Angel are smart cookies! I’m actually reading their book right now (it’s fabulous!) and I’m working on a post about what I’ve learned this past year that will be going up this week. I think I’ll reference their work a ton.
The Beginners Guide to SEO <– this might be long, but it’s absolutely fantastic if you’re looking to increase search engine traffic to your site.
Why I Refused to Put on a Shirt for Shape via Brooke: Not On A Diet <– After the craziness of the running in tutu’s (that was Shape, right?! Or am I mixing up all the awful women’s mags?) you’d think Shape would have bought a clue. Nope. Still shaming women. *sigh* Also? I <3 Brooke!!
25 Science Backed Ways to Feel Happier via Greatist <– I mean, who doesn’t love to be happy?! And I have something awesome for y’all coming in June to increase your happiness. Just. You. Wait!
If You’re Not Eating Enough, You Might Gain Weight <– in this article the person was training for an Ironman and was only eating 1200 calories. I hope we can all agree how unsafe that is. Proper fueling & food is so important!
Binging versus Hunger via The Real Life RD <— hey, guess what guys, we really DO need to eat more! If you’re hungry, eat some food. Please! 🙂
This is your WHOLE life via The Small Change Project <– please (please!) click this link. Read it. Let it sink in. BAM. That’s pretty powerful, isn’t it?

May the Fab Be With You via Venus Trapped in Mars <– You’re going to want to download these backgrounds for your phone and computer ASAP. Trust me.
Complaining to Gratitude via Lifestyle Design Camp <– I might have a teeny girl crush on Katie, but I think it’s okay 🙂
10 Things I Wish I Knew When I Started Getting Anxiety via Thought Catalog <– related: I’ve moved all my posts about anxiety into one page, so you can easily find them 🙂
What Makes a Good Product Review via Olive to Run <– my favourite thing about Cori is that she’s honest and true to herself; it’s refreshing. Being a relatively new blogger, and very new to review opportunities, I think it’s important for me to sit back and really think about companies I want to be involved and associated with.
Busy Busy….or Not! via The Girl with the Red Hair <– how many times are you “too busy”. How many times do you put the business upon yourself by leaving things until the last minute, or deciding you HAVE to do something?
Lifestyle Design for a 9-5’er via The Small Change Project <– have you guys figured out that I totally LOVE Katie yet?
I feel more satisfied in life, not just going through the motions.
If you think you can’t do things to improve your life you’re just wrong.
Lifestyle design, not just for chicks. 😉
Everything in Moderation: There’s Always Room for Dessert via Sweet Miles <– I couldn’t have said it better myself.
Is It What YOU Want? via Long Drive Journey <– a great reminder to stay true to ourselves and consider what we want, not just what others want.
