I’ve had this post, in different forms, in my drafts since May 31 – it just hasn’t yet been published. Until now. So this is 3 weeks of my favourite posts.
I may be long, but I’m certain you’ll enjoy these posts as much as I do.
My day today is absolutely nuts. I have a 10k race, followed by an apartment viewing, followed by a haircut. And the garage door in my parkade is being replaced so I have to leave by 8am, but won’t be able to get back in to park until 8pm.
I need a nap just thinking about it.
I’m pretty sure I’m going to spend Sunday hanging out with my couch because it’s been a stressful and tiring week.
Popular This Week
How to Stay Mentally Healthy While Training <– my guest post on Sara’s blog
My Next Big Challenge <– because I am insane.
The Path Out of Perfectionism via A Life Less Bullshit <– I’ve said it before, but sometimes it seems like Nicole lives in my head. I really needed to read this this week.
You Get to Choose Your Story via yesandyes <– I’m pretty much still in the middle of my story, but I really want to think about what story I tell myself and what the story is that I tell others.
Rewriting My Story via The T-Rex Runner <– I just love Danielle.
Seriously, Stop Pretending You Ate That via The Cut (found through Two Thirds Hazel, specifically, this post) <– there are so many times I’ve either rolled my eyes, or said really?! in response to a staged photo on a blog or Instagram. I love that there’s an IG account calling people out on their BS.
Embracing the Role You Never Wanted via Housewife Glamour <– I mentioned this post on Thursday and I’m still thinking about it.
30 Lessons to Excel in Yours 30’s and Beyond via Marc and Angel Hack Life <– this is another post where I pretty much just want to copy everything and paste it here, instead, click the link and give it a read. And, while you’re at in, take a read of my30 Things I’ve Learned at 30 <– shameless plug!! Okay, I couldn’t leave it without including one quote from the article….
Let needless stress rest in peace. – Would you like to have less stress in your life? Then quit creating it. Rather than jumping at the chance to be offended, choose to be amused. Instead of filling your thoughts with resentment, fill your heart with forgiveness. If someone is rude to you, let it be that person’s personal problem and not yours. Quickly grow beyond each disappointment, while savoring and sharing each joy. Life in general is what it is. Yet your life in particular, and your experience of it, is the way you choose to live it.
I can relate to this so much. I really do try to be amused, instead of offended or upset. Life is far too short to be angry all the time.
10 Important Things About Being Single We Need to Understand via Thought Catalog
Run Across America Training – What I’m Eating (plus a Vega giveaway!) via Nicole Less BS <– I’m just going to leave you with this from her post:
You are the CEO of your own body, and you can eat (or not eat) whatever the fuck you want. Period.
What happens when you’ve evolved and those around you haven’t? via The Small Change Project <– over the past year I’ve removed some people from my life and invited in new ones and you know what? I find I’m spending time with people who respect me and my time and it’s really really nice. One thing I’ve learned is you really do teach people how to treat you.
My Body is Not a Garbage Can via yesandyes
The Running Community is the Best Community via Preppy Runner <– today I’m headed out to run a 10k with some amazing people and I fully agree runners really are something else 🙂
Race Travel: 4 Strategies for a Successful Race via Run to the Finish <– half, if not more, of the races I run involve travel, so knowing how to pack for a travel race is super important!
How to Buy New Running Shoes via Eat, Spin, Run, Repeat <– my #1 suggestion is to always get fitted for shoes. Always. Especially if you’re a new runner. Also, your gait can change over time, so a pair of shoes that worked for 2 years, may not work any longer – get fitted 🙂
How to Fuel Your Running with Whole Foods via Run to the Finish <– a great reminder that the quality of the calories really do matter. And related the Story of Gatorade. I don’t actually like or drink Gadorade. I prefer plain water, but will take nuun or, even better, Vega Hydrator, for long runs (with nuun after).
Essential Oils for Athletic Performance via Run to the Finish <– uhh, y’all should just make sure you’re reading Amanda’s blog since I always link to her like crazy and I just looove her blog 🙂
In-Person versus Online Relationships via Housewife Glamour <– a post that anyone who lives part of life online should read
The Reality of the Back of the Pack – Heartbreak Hill Half Marathon Recap via Relentless Forward Commotion <– I’m glad Heather wrote this post. Her shock at the reality of being back of the pack is much like mine it shouldn’t be this way.
The First Step for Anything is This: Show Up via Nicole Less BS <– I wish there was a pocket version of Nicole. I’d just pop her in my pocket and carry her around with me and she could whip my ass into gear when needed. I fear that sounded kind creepy. Um. Sorry?
2014 Fall Race Directory via Run Salt Run <– This is an amazing list! If you want to be on it, contact Laurent and get yourself added 🙂
10 Mistakes new bloggers always make (and how to fix them) via XO Sarah <– This is probably my new favourite “how to” blogging site. Love love love.
Fix It Friday via XO Sarah <– comments are closed on this now, but it’s absolutely worth taking a read of Sarah’s design comments on other blogs. Advice to me? Darken up my font and make my header bigger. I’ll be working on it!!
Hope your weekend is restful!
