Sometimes I like alliteration in posts 🙂
I’ve known Katie (via the Internet, and because of Heather) for about a year, but we’ve never met in person. Katie is currently putting the finishing touches on her book, and we sat down and chatted for a few hours on Sunday (while I procrastinated showering because 1. I was terrified to take off my sneakers because I thought I might pull off a toe nail (I didn’t) and 2. Showering meant standing up) to help with some book brainstorming. It’s set to be released this fall and I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy!
Katie and her husband, Adam, were extremely generous and let us stay in their house and Adam cooked dinner for us on Sunday evening. Their dog Watson thinks he’s a cat, which is pretty much the opposite of Merlin who thinks he’s a dog 🙂
After the marathon we hobbled to Heather’s car and then went for brunch at Hells Kitchen. Before I had debated the Bloody Mary bar, but we all know Cesar’s are better, and the bar meant I’d need to stand, so…..mimosas won!
I also need to give a shout out to Heather who woke up a 4am to drive our butts to the start of the race, cheered for us at mile 17 and 20 and waited hours after that for us to finish. It was so nice having a friend of the course supporting us.
I’m running (and, I’ll be honest, I’m using the term “running” lightly here) GoodLife Fitness City Chase with Jen on Saturday! I think I’m excited? I’m definitely excited for the event, but I’m a bit nervous about how my body will cooperate. I’ve never been in that much pain in a race before and I’m glad I have a bit if a break from running for the next month or so.
It took me a while to conquer the half marathon distance, and it happened, so I’m hopeful by the end up of this year I’ll have figured out my marathon strategy and will be able to conquer the full as well!
I think that’s all the random from me today – tell me something random about your week!
