How is everyone feeling after the time change on the weekend?
I’m so glad I didn’t wimp out and use any excuses to not run on Sunday. The weather was just amazing this weekend! I got home from work on Friday and did a happy dance. For the past few months I’ve just been exhausted come Friday, but this week I was feeling good!
Now, my workouts weren’t perfect this week, but they weren’t terrible, either. Lets take a look!
Sunday – Okay, so this was kind of a fail. I fully intended to run, but the temperature dropped from -12C with the windchill to -18C with the windchill and I just wasn’t dressed for it, so I made it all of 2 miles 🙁
Monday – Off
Tuesday – Yoga 😀
Wednesday – Off. I ended up waking up at 2am and couldn’t fall back asleep until 3:30am. It wasn’t enjoyable and I was exhausted (I had to remember what floor I lived on!) so rest it was
Thursday – 4 mile MET run. Guys?! This was awesome!!!!!!
Friday – Off
Saturday – 8k run and Strength Session B
Again, not perfect, but way better than it has been lately. The stress at the beginning of the week made working out a challenge, so over the weekend I decided to let myself sleep, wake up and just run. A weekend with no plans was exactly what I needed.
Refueling after a run is also very important. I went for a nice 15k run on Sunday and then refueled with a smoothie. It’s been a long time since I’ve made smoothies for myself. I used to make them every day, and this lasted for nearly two years.
I feel best when I’m eating smoothies and when I’m getting enough fats and protein. On Sunday I whipped up a smoothie using Vega Sport Performance Protein and added in some hemp hearts from Manitoba Harvest to boost the fat and protein in the mix.
