Monday again, huh?
Normally I’m okay with Monday, but I woke up Sunday at Jo’s with a nasty cold that just wouldn’t go away. I ended up drugging myself to sleep around 8pm in the hopes I’d be able to function today. It looks like I might not be meeting my 5 days of exercise this week.
I’m going to change things up around here a bit this week. Instead of talking about the previous week and my week ahead, I’ll be recapping my workouts from the previous week because life happens and plans change.
So here’s what happened last week:
Monday – Personal training session
Tuesday – Off, attending the grand opening celebration for GoodLife Fitness <– psst, don’t forget to enter my giveaway!!
Wednesday – Run (6k)
Thursday – BODYPUMP
Friday – Run (5k)
Saturday – MEC Race 1 (3k warm up, 5k race); 6k walk with Jo and Sam
Sunday – Off, sick 🙁
I feel like last week was a really solid week. My runs felt great and I even surprised myself in the 5k race.
I definitely didn’t go into the race in “racing shape” but decided to test myself out a bit because I was feeling well.
I met Victoria early and we did a 2 mile warm up run (new goal: actually warm up before races). The 10k runners were set to start at 10am and the 5k at 10:10. As soon as the 10k people left we moved into the starting area, did a bit of a group warm up and then all of a sudden we were being sent on our way!
Whoops – I wasn’t quite ready.
I started my watch a bit late, dodged past a few people and aimed to find a challenging pace, but also a pace I’d be able to maintain for the 5k.
Mile 1: 9:03
Mile 2: 9:23 <– because hill and I walked that sucker 🙂
Mile 3: 8:52
Mile 0.1: 0:44
I’m pretty happy with the time, my goal was to run a sub-30, and I beat that by nearly 2 minutes. I also placed 19th out of all the women in the run.
I looked up my PR from my 5k last spring and it was a 26:30, so I’ve got some work to do to PR and I’ll be aiming for that in the future.
MEC has a great race series and I’ll be there next for the 15k in April.
How was your last week?
