Hello friends! Happy Tuesday!
I want to thank everyone who took the time to respond to my Reader Survey over the past 10 days. I’ve found the results to be so helpful and thought I’d share some of the results and what I’m working on with all of you.
Hearing what you love and what you think requires improvement has been really helpful – a lot of the improvement items were ones that I was just putting off dealing with, but knowing it’s affecting your experience means I need to stop procrastinating and hop to it!
Abby was the lucky winner of the Starbucks gift card and that was emailed yesterday.

Overall, you all seem to enjoy the content on the site. WIAW, blogging tips and link love seem to be the types of posts that aren’t loved by everyone.
I don’t regularly post about any of those topics, so I’m not too concerned about that. You all want to know more about me and my daily life, so I’ll be working to include more personal posts throughout the week.
Your responses have motivated me to make some changes to the site – some to do with the overall design and functionality, and some to do with the content you’ll be seeing moving forward.
The elephant in the room when it comes to blogging, right?! I get it. No one wants to head to a site with popups and pushdown ads. I find them frustrating too, so, for now, you won’t be seeing those here.
One thing I was delaying was switching ad networks, but your responses encouraged me to get that done over the weekend. Hopefully the ads you’ll see on the site will now me less intrusive. If you have any issues, please let me know!
I’m going to include sponsored content here as well. A perk of blogging is receiving sponsored opportunities. That said, I always do my best to only recommend products to you that I would personally spend my dollars on. Since I dislike paying full price for anything, I’m extremely choosy and will continue to be so in the future. You don’t have to worry about seeing sponsored post after sponsored post on the site, but they will come up from time to time.
This is another thing I was semi-aware of, but I was never sure if it was my slow computer, my site, or hosting. I contacted my host and they fixed an issue on their end, so hopefully this is better for loading now. Again, if not, let me know!
Something I’ve heard over and over again is to write with a specific reader in mind. Basically, invent a person (or people) who would be your ideal reader and write for them. It’s impossible to make everyone in life happy, and by doing that, I think I’m bound to fail.
I’ve pulled out my Blog School materials and have been working away at them, so you can expect to see a mission statement and more focused content over the next few weeks.
While I love my template, I have found some issues with the navigation and functionality of it. Again, I’ll be spending some time fixing this up to better point you in the direction of popular posts and other great things on the site.
I’ll also be changing how I approach race recaps. While I fully intend on recapping my races, I’m not sure having a schedule and links in my navigation is the best way to go. The same goes for my training plan, since I now have a coach, I’m not publishing my training plans, so it doesn’t seem to be all that relevant anymore.
I had no idea that my comment reply plug-in was the annoying one that only send an email saying I had replied, but didn’t include what the reply was. 🙁
Thanks Abby for telling me! Hopefully, this has now been fixed! (If you’re not getting my actual comment reply in an email, please let me know!)
