I know I’ve said before (possibly a hundred times) that blogging friends are the best friends. Well, so are running friends, and I consider myself extremely lucky as most of my running friends are blogging friends, and vice versa!
I’m always looking for ways to connect with running friends, sometimes we meet for a spin class after drinking lots of wine, other times we meet for a run, or even sign up to run an adventure race.
I’m really excited to finally (seriously, y’all, I’ve been holding this secret in for far too long) announce that I’m super pumped to be running the Shopper’s Drug Mart Run for Women in Calgary with Kaella and Laura on May 24!
I’ve found running connects me with friends in ways going for coffee doesn’t. It’s almost as soon as we head out on a run, walls come down and we’re able to talk about so many things. You know the phrase what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas? Well, running is similar. Those times spent talking about life and problems and everything and nothing, are sacred.
It’s the best kind of therapy.
To make this even more awesome (I know, how could this get any better?!) the Shopper’s Drug Mart Run for Women benefits mental health programs for women. If you’ve met me, you know that mental health is a cause near and dear to my heart, and any company that works to raise money and awareness around mental health is a favourite of mine.
Running has become one of my favourite ways to manage my anxiety, I know I have a clearer head and feel better on the days I’m able to fit in a run.
This race is all about fun. I ran it last year when I was feeling burned out from ultra-marathon training and wanted to something to get some pep back in my step. There were people there of all levels, with kids and strollers, so come out and have some fun with us 🙂
