without a plan you plan to fail. Sharing my SeaWheeze 2017 training plan
One of the lessons I’ve learned this year is that I need a plan. Lists and agendas are my jam and without them I wander aimlessly throughout life.
I’ve loosely based my training plan on the SeaWheeze training plan, but will likely make some adjustments during the week if I need to.
You’ll notice I’ve only included distances for long runs, mostly because that’s what matters for distance. My easy and interval runs will be up to 12km and will probably depend on how much time I have and how I’m feeling that day.
Teaching will be taking up my evenings during weeks two and four of the training plan, so I’ll either need to run in the mornings (ugh), at lunch, or have short runs after work. Much of this will be played by ear.
You’ll notice a tri in, oh, 13 days. I signed up all of 5 minutes ago. I wanted to do a tri forever and seeing the Wild Rose Triathlon is designed for newbies and is a women only event, I decided to go for it. Now I just have to figure out how to get my bike there……
I’m also going to be in Houston during week four/five and running will depend on what Leslie and I get up to during my visit (aka – how much we drink) so I won’t put too much pressure on myself for those few runs. I can probably fit in my long run before I leave, and then just enjoy the visit.
I’ll be in Kelowna visiting my dad the week before SeaWheeze, and really just need to fit in my 10km run and some stretching and recovery.
My barre membership also reactives in early July, so I’ll be aiming to fit in two to three classes per week – again, I may need to move my week day runs to lunch time or the morning in order to accomplish this.
Finally, a new Orangetheory Fitness is opening in Calgary, and they’re going to be hosting Saturday morning bootcamps, so I’ll be doing my best to attend.
My Tuesday and Sunday runs will be with the YYCRunCrew leaving from the Fourth Street Lululemon (Tuesday) and EV Junction (Sunday) and are open to anyone who cares to join.
