five things friday where you can find out what’s been making me smile this week
Woohoo, we made it to Friday!
Does anyone else sometimes feel like every day is the same, and then when we make it to Friday it’s a celebration?
I don’t love wishing away time, but I do love the feeling of a weekend!
This week was insanity. From registering for a triathlon on Monday to buying gear for said triathlon, so spending three evenings this week working with students and now tomorrow I have a half marathon. Jeepers.
Let’s jump in to some awesomeness, shall we?
Tri It Multisport
After registering for my triathlon I had a moment of, “oh shoot, I need……stuff” and I knew Tri It was the place to go.
Immediately after work on Monday I set off and told them I had running shoes and a bike. That’s it. They were able to outfit me in a tri-suit (I went with a two piece instead of a once piece until I get more experienced) and then I started talking to the owner, Richelle (if you follow me on Facebook, you’ve probably already heard this…)
I went into Tri It Multisport last night to purchase the pictured kit (go big or go home, right?!). I then got to chatting with Richelle and may have let it slip that I was once a competitive swimmer, AND that I’m running a half this weekend. I initially signed up for the super sprint (400m, 9k, 2.5k) and was told, “nope. You’re doing the sprint” (750m, 18k, 4.5k). I’ve not officially upgraded (yet!) but after I hop in the pool tomorrow morning and confirm I can still swim 750m, the sprint will be on!
Now, I’ve not yet upgraded, and since I’m currently hesitating, I think I’ll stick with the super-sprint with the goal of a sprint later this summer.
I’m a sucker for Starbucks, and for pretty drinks. That I’ve tried two (of the three available in Canada) should be of no surprise to anyone – and I’m planning on treating myself to the third this afternoon.
So far both the pink ombre and the violet have been pretty and delicious, and I do love what they stand for.
I’m trying to figure out when it was I last swam. I know I wasn’t living downtown yet, so it had to be in early 2009 or late 2008, so at least 8 or 9 years. Years, people.
I’m not exaggerating when I saw I grew up at the pool. I swam competitively in both speed and synchronized swimming from the time I was seven. I eventually quit when I moved out because I wasn’t fast enough as an adult to be super competitive, plus work, and friends, and being an adult got in the way.
Well, the second I got in the pool this week my body knew what to do. I didn’t need to think, it was all totally automatic.
Yes, it was a lot harder than I recall, but I also enjoyed every second of it.
I discovered these when I was at City Market Sage Hill last week. I was picking up groceries and stumbled across these amazing burgers. After swimming, biking, and running over the course of two days, I was starving and these burgers really hit the spot last night.
While I aim to eat healthy, I also love treating myself to a burger, especially during the summer. I give these two thumbs up!
I resumed my membership with Frock Box this month, and I’m so happy with what I received.
I wasn’t able to keep all of it, but every item was spot on, and I’m super pumped about the items I did end up keeping 🙂
Bonus: Blogger Summer Camp
Okay, so camp hasn’t started yet (and, yes, I did mention it last week), but that doesn’t mean I can’t be super excited about it (and remind you about it!).
I’ve been pretty open about not wanting blogging to be my full time job (I like my job!) but I do think there are ways I can better leverage both my running and accounting knowledge in blogland, and I’m excited to come up with a plan (right now I really only have a pla-).
Remember, you can sign up for the Shake Your Money Maker* course and then you’ll receive a huge discount on your Blogger Summer Camp* registration and get lifetime access to the Shake Your Money Maker* course. Signing up was definitely a no-brainer for me!
Nicole has also added some fantastic bonuses, so definitely head over and check them out!
*yup, those are affiliate links. Signing up doesn’t cost you anything additional, but if you sign up, I’ll receive a percentage of the price. As always, thank you so much for your support.Five Things Friday featuring @StarbucksCanada @TriItMultisport @FrockBox and @CityMarket_Sage Click To Tweet
