five things friday where you can find out what’s been making me smile (or frown) this week
Good morning and happy Friday.
Have you ever gotten out of a routine and then struggled (and struggled and struggled) to get back in to a routine? I feel like that’s where I am with blogging (and, well, maybe life). I had a good groove going for most of the spring and then WHAM! good-bye routine. I feel like it’s so easy to forget routines over the summer, and this summer was busy for me. Busy, yet wonderfully fulfilling. I’m hoping to catch you up on some of my favourites over the next few Fridays and also share some new discoveries with you – and we’ll see where this new blogging routine goes 🙂
Is it lame to start a list with friends? If it is, oh well.
SeaWheeze finisher pictures going up late because I needed some time to sort out my thoughts. Not because this was a bad race for me, but because I felt terrible at the finish. Why? I had a minor injury that I thought was fine, but it reared its head and from 5km on every step was a struggle. I let it get in my head and I was grumpy when I finished. Whoops. The good? I ran and chatted the entire way with the amazing @emilyinyyc and the miles really did fly by. Running has brought so many amazing people into my life. While I may not currently be as fast as I once was, that's not why I run. I can honestly say running for me is #morethanmiles – I've made my closest friends through running. So, yesterday wasn't the efforless half I dreamed of, but I loved and appreciated every second I was on that course and I can't wait for 2018. #cowgirlruns #seawheeze
I’ve been super fortunate to spend a lot of time with friends this summer. First was my trip to Houston to visit Leslie, then taking in Stampede with friends, followed by Leslie visiting Calgary, and then a few weeks later I was in Vancouver and had more friends than I had time. I have some amazing friend time planned in September and October as well, and I’m very excited for it all.
It’s a well-known fact I’m a crazy cat lady. I know, I probably don’t need to emphasize this; however, being away from the cats for 10 days made me appreciate them so much upon my return.
Charlie is a total nut (as evidenced by her antics – I recommend following along on Instagram Stories for those) and Merlin is just a sweet heart. They’ll always be my favourites.
Does anyone not love Trader Joe’s? Also, don’t answer that.
I stocked up on a few items this month when I drove, and I’m already realizing I probably should have stocked up on more. I’m very nearly out of the Guacamole to Go and that makes me sad.
Sport Chek Women Store
This past weekend I was invited to work out at the Calgary Sport Check Women store along side Square 1 YYC.
I love that Sport Check Women’s store is able to host workouts and has just an amazing layout and store concept.
The workout was a super great break from exam marking, and I was sore for daysssssss.
After cleaning out my storage unit last winter, I came across a bunch of old photo albums. I’m having the best time sharing these throwback pictures each Thursday.
Most of them are exceptionally dorky, and I get such a kick out of sharing picture of me looking like a dofus. I definitely need to go digging for more photo albums so I don’t run out of ridiculous photos to share.
(If you want to take a picture of a picture, get the Google Photoscan app – it’s awesome!)
