five things friday where you can find out what’s been making me smile this week
Happy Friday friends!
Over the past few months, as life has only gotten busier, I’ve realized I’ve been negligent in sharing the smaller things that have made me smile, and so I’m officially resurrecting Five Things Friday and we’re starting off with number one, because I’m not about to count how many of these I’ve written in the past 🙂
The Gut Lab
The Gut Lab is a local Calgary product I found on SPUD* and is amazing! I’ve been working to better wind down at night, and having cocoa gold mixed with almond milk each evening has been very calming. Turmeric is known to have anti inflammatory properties and this saves me from mixing it myself – and it’s downright tasty!
You can find it from SPUD* and if you’re a new customer you can save $20 on your first order with my referral link.
My Relocated Desk (and Flowers!)
Two weeks ago I moved my desk from my second bedroom into my living room and I’m loving it. It’s right by my window so I can get some sunlight while working, and the flowers on the desk really help to cheer it up.
I’ve wanted to move it for months and I’m so glad I did!
The flowers are for Amborella and are absolutely beautiful. I’ve truly enjoyed my weekly peony deliver and will be sad when it’s over.
Saucony Ride 10
The fine folks at Saucony reached out and asked if I’d be interested in trying out the new Saucony Ride 10 shoes, and I jumped on the chance! As they’re a neutral shoe, they’re not the best running shoe for me, but they were a fantastic walking shoe and I wore them throughout City Chase this past weekend.
I had tried them on, but really put them through the paces on Saturday with 25,000 steps (including climbing up and down the Calgary Tower!) and my feet were happy as could be at the end of it!
I received a number of Maybelline items from ChickAdvisor earlier this month. While I’m not required to post a review on the blog, I was so impressed by the quality of the products, I wanted to be sure to share them with you. I’ve had a bit of a Sephora problem in the past, so having less expensive, yet still great quality make up options makes my bank account super happy!
I received the MyoBuddy Massager for free in exchange for a review. I had hoped to have the opportunity to bring it along on my Ragnar trip, but I quickly ran out of room in my suitcase; however, I was able to use it upon my return.
I also had a massage a few days after Ragnar and asked my amazing and wonderful massage therapist her opinion of the massager (she actually asked what it was) since she’s far more knowledgeable about this kind of stuff than I am.
A summary of the convo with my RMT is as follows:
Vibration massage can be really beneficial for warming up by quickly targeting the areas for a total time of about 2 minutes. This helps wake up the muscles and receptors for exercise. When it comes to massage, benefits are really only seen with prolonged (greater than 2 minutes) use in an area.
The MyoBuddy webpage has a great library of resources for self massage, and I highly recommend viewing the videos to get the most out of your MyoBuddy Massager.
Like many recovery techniques, I find it best to do what works for you, and this study reported in Runner’s World has a similar conclusion.
Bonus: Blogger Summer Camp
Okay, so camp hasn’t started yet, but that doesn’t mean I can’t be super excited about it!
I’ve been pretty open about not wanting blogging to be my full time job (I like my job!) but I do think there are ways I can better leverage both my running and accounting knowledge in blogland, and I’m excited to come up with a plan (right now I really only have a pla-).
Remember, you can sign up for the Shake Your Money Maker* course and then you’ll receive a huge discount on your Blogger Summer Camp* registration and get lifetime access to the Shake Your Money Maker* course. Signing up was definitely a no-brainer for me!
*yup, those are affiliate links. Signing up doesn’t cost you anything additional, but if you sign up, I’ll receive a percentage of the price. As always, thank you so much for your support.Five Things Friday feat @SPUDCalgary @SauconyCanada @MaybellineCAN AND MORE! Click To Tweet
