Happy Friday, my friends! We’re nearly to the weekend!
December has already been a super busy month for me. I have two work projects that need to be done before the break, which for me is December 22, I have two more weeks of contract work which takes up a lot of my weekends, and I’m working hard at my barre challenge. I’m certainly looking forward to taking some rest over the break (while still going to barre) and figuring out how to squeeze in some runs once the weather warms up!
Today I have another awesome gift guide for you – this time it’s what you should buy for the runner in your life.
I have a super awesome giveaway to go with it. You can enter to win $100 to Swanson Health Products (open to US and Canada until December 20, but you gotta scroll down to find it!).
Some of you may have guessed, but if not, I’m super excited to announce I’m a Mizuno Canada Ambassador for 2017. I’ll be sharing new products and reviews over the course of the year, so first up are the brand new Inspire 13s.
In November Mizuno released the Wave Rider 20 along with the Wave Inspire 13. As I need a stability shoe, the Inspire is the shoe for me. I wore the 12 for both races in Disney and my feet were super happy with no blisters, and I’m super excited to give the Inspire 13s. Both the Wave Rider 20 and Wave Inspire 13 have new cloudwave technology, resulting in a softer, more responsive shoe.
If you don’t know what shoe your runner friends wears, then a gift card will probably be best. While Mizuno shoes work for me, they might not work for you, and I always recommend going to a speciality store and getting fitted for the best shoes for you.
Orrrrrr, maybe just a gift card for supplements 🙂
The awesome folks at Swanson Health Products hooked me up with my own gift card and I purchased a few supplements for myself:
- Turmeric – for inflammation
- Magnesium – to help with recovery and sore muscles
- Probiotics – to keep my tummy happy
And also added in some fun items like granola and a diffuser. I’ll be sharing more about my order once everything arrives, but wanted to make sure everyone had lots of time to enter before Christmas.
Keep reading and enter to win a $100 gift card to Swanson Health Products for yourself (or a friend).
If you’re anything like me, you looooove running gadgets. I think I finally found my favourite gadget/fitness tracker in the Polar M600. I was lucky enough to test out a beta model over the summer and I missed it something fierce until I got one of my own this winter.
Why give a runner a barre membership?
Because barre works to strengthen many of the weak areas for us runners, like hips and glutes. Since attending barre regularly, my hip/glute strength has improved tremendously, which is probably why I may have hurt while running in Disney, but didn’t end up injured. No one likes an injured runner.
From now until December 31 you can buy a 3-month Barre Body Studio membership for $350 , a savings of $28-$43/month (depending on membership level). Just think of all the barre socks you could buy with that money!
Before I jetted off to Disney, the awesome folks at Clif sent me a care package and I’ve only just now been able to open and explore it! Clif Bars are one of my favourite quick snacks – especially the seasonal Spiced Pumpkin Pie and the new nut butter filled bars. I’m pretty sure the nut butter bars are only available in the US, but I’ll be stalking up when I’m there in January!
I live for regular massages (I have one booked for Tuesday and I’m pumped!). I’ve been seeing my massage therapist for nearly 4 years and I will cry if she ever leaves me. My massages have been key in keeping my muscles healthy, especially in my lower legs where I get regular tightness (thanks big calves) that can turn into something worse if I don’t pay attention to it.
I know, this seems very utilitarian, but I love my rollers. Yes, rollers. I have multiple.
I definitely need to spent a bit more time with them, and my friends also appreciate their use when they’re at my house. I have an entire set from Trigger Point and I love to hate all of them 🙂
Trust me, anything to keep your runner healthy will make them happy.
Running races isn’t cheap. Entering a bunch of races over the course of the year can get expensive, so some money towards a race entry (or two…..or three….) goes a long way!
