This post is inspired by the post, 8 Reasons You Should Never Date a Runner.
While I nodded my head and chuckled at the comments (my feet are gross and I do spend all my money on running gear and races) I think the reasons to date a runner far outweigh the reasons not to.
1. We’ll take you to new places
Traveling to races is one of my favourite things. A perk of dating a runner is travel. You can go to big cities, or small towns, and see places you never thought you’d enjoy.
For example, here is a list of all the places I’ve traveled to (or will be) (I think) for races:
- Calgary (duh)
- Las Vegas
You’ll probably even be able to sleep through the early wake-up call and just meet us at the finish in time for a sweaty hug and a post-run shower.
2. We’ll push you out of your comfort zone
If you date a runner, I can guarantee we’ll try to get you to run. Maybe you’ll love it, maybe you’ll hate it, but there’s nothing wrong with trying something new in life.
If you don’t like running, we’ll also take you to a spin class, barre class, yoga class and probably BODYPUMP. Just because we run, it doesn’t mean it’s the only thing we do.
3. New friends
Making friends at races is easy. It’s doubly easy if you date a runner who is also a blogger, because chances are we know a handful of people who are going to be at the race, and we’ll plan a meet up while we’re there.
You can meet people who are runners, and people who get dragged along for race support. You might even find someone to cheer with.
4. Killer legs
Running, spinning, yoga, barre all make for killer legs.
5. We’ll rarely balk at ordering a beer and a burger
(Heck, we might even out eat you)
Running all the time results in runger. Runger means we eat. A lot.
You won’t have to worry about dating the type of girl who picks at the menu and only eats half a salad. I’ll order a burger and a side salad (trying to keep up appearances) eat it all and then start in on your fries. #sorrynotsorry
6. You never have to worry about us coming home at 3am
Since weekend long runs are a thing, we’re in bed early. None of this going out and getting drunk and coming home late business.
7. Sunday naps are a thing
Waking up early for a run equals a nap later on in the afternoon. Since Sunday naps are awesome, we are awesome.
Yeah. You know it.
