Many thanks to Reebok for sponsoring Team Endorphriends on our Ragnar journey and providing Team Endorphriends with the Reebok Float Ride shoe to carry us to the finish (available at Reebok.ca and select Running Room Locations).
It’s been four days since Ragnar and I’m still not exactly sure how to put my experience in to words……but I like to recap when things are still fresh, so here we go!
Thursday evening after 6 hours of sleep (3 hours on the plane, and 3 hours at Janice’s) it was time to head to the Reebok head office to pick up and decorate our vans.
Cathy and her company Gawck provided awesome decals for both of our vans and we were absolutely the best looking vans on course. Cathy even made awesome stickers for us to tag vans with, and people ended up coming up to us to ask for stickers at some exchanges. Basically, we won decorating 🙂
In addition to the vans, Damn Good Sports Group provided each of the team members hats with our respective monsters to wear. If you want to get a custom hat from Katie you can use DAMNGOODANGE to save on your order.
After decorating the team headed to Scaddabush for a team dinner wherein I may have also joked that it was my birthday dinner 🙂
I enjoyed the lobster spaghetti and then Allison told our server it was my birthday and I was treated to a mug cake for dessert. I didn’t need any additional food, but you best believe I ate it 😉
Finally it was off to the hotel to crawl into bed and get ready for the morning. Here it is @ReebokCanada @RagnarRelay Team Endorphriends race update - part one (of many)Click To Tweet
My alarm went off far too early at 6:00 on Friday, and I slowly dragged myself out of bed so Van 1 could head to Cobourg to check in and get the party started!
After taking in the safety video, Carmy got ready to start the journey for Team Endorphriends.
Next up was me!
My first leg was definitely the least scenic of my three legs as much of it was on a highway without many views, though we did crest a bridge and could see Lake Ontario off in the distance.
I handed off to Eric and he totally crushed his leg.
While we waited for Eric to come in, we hung out at a beautiful church and I had a lovely time tagging vehicles with our stickers. There’s something about stealthly putting stickers on a vehicle that made me super happy.
Eric handed off to Janice who battled flies, and a train, but also found some cows. There’s a chance I was overly excited in the van when I saw said cows. I can’t help it, I love ’em.
Carmy and Ben ran Janice in as we noticed there was a terrible hill near the finish and she handed off to Erik (yes, having two Eric/k’s in the van is about as confusing as you would imagine) and he continued along Lakeshore. We passed Erik while driving to the exchange and took in the gorgeous scenery.
Ben warmed up while the rest of us wandered around and then Ben was off like a shot to bring it home for van 1.
We quickly drove to Exchange 6 to meet up with our Van 2 members as we hadn’t seen them since the previous night.
Ben came in, hair blowing in the wind, and handed off to Allison and she took over for van 2.
We wandered around Exchange 6 to do a bit of shopping, stopped in at a restaurant for some real food, and then drove to Exchange 12 so we could lay around and rest a bit.
My left leg was bothering me and Janice was kind enough to work on my leg and stretch me out.
Van 2 showed up while Lisa was running and we chatted and caught up and got to cheer in a dog and then Lisa came in and off Carmy went!
Van 1 was off at at it again! Here it is @ReebokCanada @RagnarRelay Team Endorphriends race update - part one (of many)Click To Tweet
So much more to come!!
