This past weekend, I spent all day both Saturday and Sunday at barre training. This meant I wasn’t going to be able to run with my run group, so Emily and I initially thought we’d head out both mornings, but then she messaged me on Friday to run and that was definitely a good call. More time in the morning for me is always a good thing.
This weekend was definitely out of the ordinary for me, as I typically spend my weekends at home and have an opportunity to prepare my meals myself. That obviously wasn’t going to happen this weekend.

paired with a southwestern has from Made and SPUD Calgary. Knowing we wouldn’t break for lunch until 1, I wanted to make sure I was well fueled.

The hunger was setting in and I knew if I didn’t fuel myself with something things were about to go downhill – and fast!
The 30g of protein kept me full until our 1pm lunch, and I made sure to share with the group! The folks at Premier Protein and FitFluential sent over 18 bars, so more than enough to share and keep the group fueled for the day! It was easy for me to share since they’re gluten-free, so anyone with any sensitives didn’t need worry, and they’re also a good source of calcium. I received rave reviews from everyone who sampled them and the chocolate mint seemed to be a favourite (I’m partial to the yogurt peanut). You can pick up your own box of 18 Premier Protein bars at Costco, I highly recommend delivering one or two to your favourite fitness instructor.
We were told our break would be at 1pm, and while I considered packing a lunch, I pack a lunch everyday during the week, so I figured I’d see what the group wanted to do and possibly tag along. I went to Sunterra and grabbed a veggie sandwich and a Vitamin water (because they taste good) for the afternoon.
Knowing I’d be busy all weekend and not really have much time to grocery shop, I placed an order with Chefs Plate to be delivered.
Upon arriving home, I cooked some steak, potatoes and spinach and it all hit the spot. Wine was obviously consumed as well.
Soon after dinner, it was time for bed because I needed to repeat everything all over again on Sunday.
I have lots more to say about barre training, and it’s coming. Right now I’m working on the next steps in my training on top of everything else I have going on!
