Yee-haw, it’s Friday!
And as of today, my birthday is exactly 2 months away. Two months until I’m in my mid-thirties (I classify 30-32 as early, 33-37 as mid and 37-39 as late, because that’s what I do) and OMG what?! As always, I accept presents to lessen the blow of getting older 🙂
So, here we are, week 2 of my training for the Calgary Marathon.
Have you ever had a week that just didn’t go your way at all? That was my week this week. Nothing significant happened, it just felt off, especially as it related to my workouts.
Here’s the visual recap:
You can see my original training plan here.
I skipped my run on Saturday because my back hurt. Like, needed to take a muscle relaxant and lay on the couch kind of hurt. It sucked.
I had a good run on Sunday at the St Patrick’s Day 5k. 🍀
Monday was a scheduled rest day and I enjoyed it (though if I didn’t have girls over for The Bachelor finale I probably would have put myself to bed at 7pm). I’m really going to miss getting together with these girls every week. They’ve trekked to downtown Calgary every Monday for the past 10 or so weeks and we’ve had such a great time. I’m really looking forward to JoJo as The Bachelorette in May! 🌹
I skipped again on Tuesday. Ten minutes after I got in the door it started snowing/sleeting and I stretched and rolled because my body has been feeling extra sore lately. Second winter, it exists. ❄️❄️
I set my alarm early on Wednesday, but, as you guessed, I didn’t wake up early. I had a massage scheduled after work, but it didn’t end up happening, so I took a bath and stretched and foam rolled again. My back has been exceptionally cranky, so I’ve booked in with my chiro for after L’Arche on Saturday. My appointment is 65 minutes after the start of the 5-Miler, so we’ll see how well that works out…
Thursday I also set my alarm and it just didn’t happen. But, BodyPump did, so I’m halfway there. If we didn’t’ get a dump of snow overnight I probably would have run at lunch, but I wasn’t feeling the snow.
As for today? Well, it’s a rest day on my calendar, but I’m planning on getting in an easy 30-minute run to shake out my legs from Pump yesterday and prep for the 5-Mile run tomorrow.
This week has certainly been all over the place fitness-wise.
Best workout of your week? Worst? Anyone else feel like they were riding the struggle bus on Monday?
